2025 Week 11 Wrap

Jacquelline Kambere scored three goals for Mississippi Valley State last season, but had yet to find a goal in Chicago State colours since her transfer prior to this campaign. However, that changed this week as the Cougars picked up a fourth win of the campaign and a second win on the trot as they knocked off New Haven. With her team already up 2-0, Kambere made absolutely sure of the win as she found herself wide open in space before easily rounding the goalkeeper and slotting the ball into the empty net.

However, Kambere wasn’t done for the week, producing once again as Chicago State kept their winning streak alive with a 2-1 victory over Saint Francis. The Cougars jumped out of the blocks quickly, scoring in the third minute before a perfectly placed through ball from Kambere put Saige Thor through on goal to put the visitors up 2-0 inside 15 minutes. Saint Francis finally pulled one goal back in the 89th minute, but the Cougars were able to hold on for the last 60 seconds and reach five wins for the first time in the program’s 12-season history.

Siena need to keep winning to give themselves a shot at a MAAC tournament berth, and Iona Snape was pivotal to the Saints picking up a third consecutive 3-0 win as they dispatched of Rider to sit one point below the cutline with one game remaining. The Central Coast product notched two assists on her own Senior Day, with her second coming courtesy of a delightful cross that found a teammate’s head for the third and final goal. Snape now sits on three assists for the season, tying the single-season high that she posted last season. Having stormed back into contention, Siena do still need either Marist, Canisius, or Manhattan to lose on the final day even if they get a win over Iona, but the equation is looking far better than it did for the Saints just a couple of weeks ago.

UAB aren’t quite locked into a conference tournament spot, but Abbey Burns’ last minute heroics significantly improved their position as the Blazers eked out a thrilling 3-2 victory over South Florida. Although each team found the back of the net inside the first 11 minutes, the game did not produce a third goal until UAB took a 2-1 lead with 25 minutes to play. However, the Blazers conceded an 86th minute equaliser, and it looked as though two valuable points had slipped from their grasp. Enter Captain Burns, who teed up Sydney Bolinger for a game winner just 18 SECONDS from the final whistle to secure a 3-2 win and ensure a final day draw against North Texas will be enough to extend their season into the conference tournament.

Down 1-0 to South Dakota with less than ten minutes to play, Denver looked as though they had spurned a golden chance to earn a share of the Summit League regular season title as league leaders Oral Roberts trailed South Dakota State in the day’s other game of importance. However, South Dakota made the egregious error of conceding a corner, which Isabella Chidiac would take. Once again, the Sydneysider landed the ball right on the head of a teammate as Brooke Ahern nodded home to tie things up and deliver Chidiac her 9th assist of the campaign. A game winner would follow just two minutes later, giving the Pioneers a split of the regular season championship as Oral Roberts could not find an equaliser in the final 40 minutes in Tulsa.
