It’s approaching crunch time for teams looking to secure conference tournament berths, with Hawaii, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Texas Tech all in solid positions. Meanwhile, Beattie Goad and Teagan Micah face off in the always highly-anticipated UCLA v Stanford matchup.
Eliza Ammendolia produced a performance to remember for Hawaii, finishing with a hat-trick with a difference against UC Irvine. Meanwhile, Teresa Morrissey was once again Rhode Island’s saviour, whilst Siena Senatore and Southeast Missouri State booked a postseason berth.
Defensive players are shining bright at the moment, with Sam Roff, Claudia Jenkins, and Teresa Morrissey flying high. Meanwhile, at the other end of the pitch, Demi Koulizakis will be looking to get Texas Tech’s attack firing again.
Claudia Jenkins and Teresa Morrissey continued to play starring roles for their respective teams between the sticks, whilst Tessa Calabria doubled her goals tally for the season. Meanwhile, Beattie Goad may not have been credited with a stat on the scoresheet, but was nonetheless crucial in two Stanford goals.
The regular season reached its midway point this season, but for many teams the real work has just begun. This includes Texas Tech, who had Demi Koulizakis to thank for a game-winner in a blockbuster against Oklahoma State. Elsewhere, Sam Roff notched a milestone of her own in a win over Merrimack.
The stars kept shining this week as the season hit the 25% point, with Demi Koulizakis and Beattie Goad putting in impressive shifts. However, the undoubted top performer was Claudia Jenkins, whose career day led La Salle to victory on the road at Florida Gulf Coast.
With only a couple of weeks until conference play commences, it’s time for teams to start hitting their straps in non-conference action to prepare themselves for their league slate. Teagan Micah, Rachel Lowe, and UCLA will continue their high-level early schedule against Santa Clara, whilst Demi Koulizakis will hope that her Senior Night celebrations extend throughout the night as Texas Tech look to maintain their good form.
One of the biggest events of the season takes place this week, with Aussie pair Rachel Lowe and Teagan Micah front and centre. Meanwhile, Teresa Morrissey and Claudia Jenkins will look to continue their solid form between the sticks, and are there more goals coming for Nicholls State’s Aussies?
A week of outstanding performances saw a pair of freshmen enjoy outstanding debuts, a sophomore pick up a first career goal, and a senior make a stunning comeback from injury with a goal as a number of Aussies got on the scoresheet during the opening weekend of the season.
Once the domain of Wyoming legend Georgia Rowntree, the Australian goalkeeping stocks in NCAA Division I are now four deep as freshman Teresa Morrissey joins Claudia Jenkins, Teagan Micah, and Grace Watson Carr in the US, with all four either the incumbent starter or a reasonable chance of securing the berth.
