It’s been a long time coming for Wilma Thodhlana, but the Saint Peter’s junior found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal as the Peacocks defeated Izzy Stein and LIU 3-0 to continue a promising start to the season. Saint Peter’s played havoc with the LIU defence at corners on multiple occasions throughout the game, and it was Thodhlana who opened the scoring after nodding home a bouncing ball. Two second-half goals followed, sending the Peacocks to a 2-1-1 record after finishing 4-12 last season. It may be early, but things are looking good for the team from Jersey City.
It may not have been a successful week for Canisius results-wise, but Chloe Tseros continues to demonstrate why the Golden Griffins have a potential four-year starter after another solid week between the sticks. Goals just either side of halftime allowed Colorado College to secure victory in Buffalo, but the freshman pulled off six saves to take her tally to 17 for the season. Tseros now sits in the top 50 nationally for saves per game, and whilst the Golden Griffins coaching staff will hope that the defence can limit the number of shots she faces in future games, they can be confident in her abilities to keep the ball out of the back of the net.
Shivani Battaglia was once again crucial for Fresno State as the shots rained down at both ends but the goalkeepers proved to be the true stars in a 0-0 draw with Cal Poly. After making four saves last week in a 1-1 draw with UC Davis, the Western Australian came up with seven more in another 90-minute outing to see the Bulldogs earn their second draw in as many games. Although the attack hasn’t yet fired, Battaglia’s efforts are ensuring her team picks up results despite a lack of regular goalscoring output in 2025.
Kate Ryan played just 34 minutes across her first two seasons at Dartmouth, but that era already looks to be firmly in the rearview mirror as the junior was almost ever-present throughout the weekend. Coming off the bench against Merrimack, Ryan ended up playing 71 minutes in a 7-0 victory over the Warriors, and earned a spot in the starting lineup for the game against Central Connecticut State. Ryan would play the full 90 minutes against the Blue Devils as the Big Green rolled to a 2-0 win. Dartmouth conceded just six shots across the two games, and held CCSU without a shot on target.
Meanwhile, two more players made their collegiate debut this week. Sarah Birchall entered the game for the final 28 minutes as Gardner-Webb faced Elon, but unfortunately it was the Phoenix that came up with a goal in the final five minutes for a 1-0 victory. Meanwhile, CJ Harris’ debut ensured we saw Aussies on both sides as Rider faced Seton Hall. The former Northern Tigers defender played 31 minutes for the Broncs in a 2-2 draw that also saw Sarah Mitchell play 4 minutes off the bench, although Eloise Jones and Grace Mitchell did not feature.
