The first Aussie transfer of the 2025/26 offseason is in the books as Canisius goalkeeper Chloe Tseros becomes the third Aussie in as many seasons to sign with Purdue. Tseros features as part of a seven-player transfer class for the Boilermakers, with the cohort comprising players moving up from mid-majors as well as transfers from other power conference programs.
Tseros signed with Canisius out of Sydney Olympic’s NPL program and immediately made an impact for the Golden Griffins. The freshman won a wide-open battle for the starting spot between the sticks following previous incumbent Jordan Spencer’s departure, and held down the spot for the entire campaign. Tseros played all bar seven minutes of her first collegiate season, only coming off for the final minutes of a 5-1 demolition of Saint Peter’s in late October. The Sydneysider made a total of 80 saves and finished with a save percentage of 0.748, keeping five clean sheets in the process.
Tseros also came up massive in the MAAC Tournament, making six saves against Quinnipiac before proving to be the hero in the shootout to help her team to the championship game against Sacred Heart. In blizzard-like conditions, Tseros came agonisingly close to leading her team to the NCAA Tournament as the Golden Griffins fell in sudden death despite the goalkeeper maintaining a clean sheet and coming up with two saves in the first three rounds of the shootout.
Tseros joins a Purdue side that finished 6-10-3, a record that was padded by some outstanding wins, particularly the result against then-#23 Wisconsin, but dented by unexpected losses to lower-rated teams in the Big Ten. However, this transfer class combined with a 10-player freshman recruiting class should hopefully help the Boilermakers reload as they appear set to lose four seniors and graduate students, including star forward Chiara Singarella, former Sydney FC midfielder Margaux Chauvet, and starting goalkeeper Ally Lynch.
The departure of Lynch puts Tseros in a familiar position: entering the pre-season in a wide-open positional battle. Former Arkansas and USC goalkeeper Phoebe Carver has also joined as a transfer for her senior season. Carver started as a freshman for Arkansas, but featured only twice in two seasons for USC prior to her move to Purdue. The Boilermakers have also signed freshman Isabelle Bramble, who served as an amateur training player for NWSL side Utah Royals, and was ranked #12 nationally among goalkeepers by Top Drawer Soccer.
However, that kind of competition often comes with the territory in a power conference program, particularly one looking to rise out of the doldrums of the Big Ten. As things stand, 2021’s 15-win campaign is looking more and more like an anomaly for the Boilermakers, but coach Richard Moodie has a history of success after posting a 91-36-19 record at South Alabama before joining Purdue in 2024.
