2025 Week 10 Preview

Three matchdays remain in the Ivy League, and the two teams featuring Aussies couldn’t be in better positions as Harvard and Dartmouth occupy the top two spots in an incredibly tight race. Currently, five teams are separated by just three points, and with only four spots available in the conference tournament, every result is crucial. Erin Gordon and Harvard currently sit a point clear atop the table, but play third-place Brown this week, and need at least a draw to stay ahead of the Bears. Gordon could be in for a busy day against a Brown side that has banged home 29 goals in 13 games, but the Crimson will be buoyed by the fact that Dartmouth held the Bears scoreless last week.

Meanwhile, Kate Ryan and Dartmouth sit a point behind Harvard in second, and face a Princeton side that needs at least a point to avoid potentially relying on other results in the final couple of weeks. If they bring their best, the Big Green should come away with the three points as their defence, which has conceded just six goals in 11 games, faces a Tigers’ attack that has found the back of the net just 10 times in their 11 contests. At the other end, Dartmouth’s attack hasn’t been quite as dominant, but 18 goals in their NCAA Division I games is still a solid return, and two goals per game including non-NCAA Division I matchups is good enough for top 60 in the nation. One of the breakout players of the campaign, Kate Ryan has emerged not only as a defensive star, but a factor at attacking set pieces after picking up both a goal and an assist in 2025, and should be heavily involved once again in this one.

There are also three matchdays also left in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and Chloe Tseros and Canisius have a chance to give themselves a massive edge in the race for the final three conference tournament spots behind Fairfield, Sacred Heart, and Stella Tosoni’s Quinnipiac. The Golden Griffins take on Marist, with both teams on 16 points, two clear of the cut-line. With Marist playing two of the bottom three teams in their final games, three points would provide a handy buffer for Canisius, but it won’t be entirely easy. Marist have a slight edge in the majority of the major statistical categories, and have homefield advantage. However, the Red Foxes have been held scoreless in three of their last four games, and Chloe Tseros will be champing at the bit to add another clean sheet to that list. This shapes to be a tight one and could yet be a turning point in the tournament race.

Elsewhere, Libby Davy and George Mason are currently level for seventh place in the Atlantic 10, and could take a massive step towards securing a spot in the eight-team conference tournament with two wins this week. The Patriots face a pair of teams sitting just above and just below them, taking on 5th-place Fordham and 10th-place Davidson in the penultimate week of league play. Fordham are a classic “you score goals, we’ll score more” team, sitting in the top 50 in the nation for goals scored but the bottom third nationally for goals conceded in compiling a solid 8-4-2 record to this point. The Rams look likely to keep Davy busy as they average 8.5 shots on target per game, but the South Australian recently posted a 12-save game against Duquesne and is unlikely to be fazed by whatever Fordham throw at her.

Davidson, however, pose a quite different challenge. Currently sitting at 6-5-2, the Wildcats score just 1.08 goals per game and concede 1.23 compared to Fordham’s 2.07 and 1.64 respectively. That stingy defence shapes as the toughest obstacle for George Mason to overcome this week as the Patriots have scored only 14 goals in as many games. However, with Davy between the sticks, one goal could be enough to secure at least a point and keep the Wildcats behind them on the table heading into the final two games of league play.
